His obituary says, "a lover of good livestock, his horsews and cattle have been admired by all who were privileged to see them. His well cared for farm buildings are proof of his ability and management."
He was an active member of the United Church, and for 27 years was Superintendent of the Hillburn Sunday School.

General Notes: Margaret Hall remembers (Dec 2003):
as a child, she used to go to Actons to visit with May and Gertie, stayed overnight sometimes. Mr. Acton was very gruff, scared her. When Mrs. Acton died, Gertie took over the household. When Gertie got married, Margaret Badstone was brought in as housekeeper.
Margaret and Russel got married in Margaret's house - Mr. Acton and Irv stood up with Russel, Doreen stood up with Margaret.
Mr. Acton moved with Margaret Badstone from the farm to Moose Jaw abt 1940, after his death she moved to Vancouver and was friendly with Laura Foxcroft Acton.
